Merino multicoloured yarn

A while ago, I bought a merino fleece from a local farm. After cleaning and carding it, I dyed it in different colours. I recarded it as it was very lumpy and mixed some of the initial colours to create in-between colours. I alternated the colours when spinning and Navajo plied the wool. While the colours are nice, I am disappointed as the wool is still lumpy.

This is the same wool (unspun) I used for weaving the table lamp. I will use this spun wool to create a cushion for felting.

Socks - January 2014

I was sampling wool from different sheep breeds and Madeleine from the Burgundy Spinners and Weavers gave me some Manxx Laughton wool to try. I was surprised by its elasticity and thought it would be perfect for sock yarn. I bought some tops and mixed it with 30% mohair to add strength. The resulting yarn was very nice and soft.

Lampshade - November 2013

Monique from the Burgundy Spinners and Weavers showed us how to weave a lampshade. I chose to weave a sunset over the sea. The border at the bottom is crocheted and beads were added to the picots.

I enjoyed the processus and then created this one:

Haruni shawl - summer 2013

For this shawl, I used the mohair I spun and died in november 2009

Cladonia Shawl - January 2013

Cladonia Shawl - design by Kirsten Kapur

Here is my version made from lama wool with natural colour change. The knitted lace border is made of one thread lama wool and one thread bamboo fibre as I was running out of lama. The shine of the bamboo fibre adds another dimension to the knitted lace border.

Felted Slippers - November 2012

These felted slippers started as the ugly ducklings shown below. I knitted these overgrown shapes (side by side, they were 80 cm wide) and felted them in the washing machine until they reached the size required.  They will need embellishing with either needle felting or embroidery.
